HUDSON, North Carolina

Would the Hudson's from North Carolina in the US be traceable to the Hudson's of England? I would think so. What is the best way to trace this ancestry?
(PS : My 2nd Greatgrandfather was Daniel James Hudson from Onslow County, North Carolina).

John HUDSON born c 1819 (possibly Antrim Ireland)

My 2x great grandfather was John HUDSON who was born c 1819 which think was in Antrim Ireland.
I first found him in 1843 when he married Eliza CHESNEY in the Grange Presbyterian Church, Ballyscullion, Antrim Ireland.
He lived and died (in 1875) in Casheltown, Portglenone, Ireland and is buried in the Ahoghill Old Cemetery, Antrim.
I have been unable to find who his parents were or his actual birth place.
I have been told by two different sources that we are connected to Henry Hudson (The Explorer).
Also when John's son, David died here in New Zealand in 1893, The Hudson Bay Company contacted David's widow, Mary HUDSON nee McCLURE, and sent her a cheque for £5.
I have had the Ulster Historical Foundation and also a private researcher in Ireland look into records for me with no success.
I would really like to find out more about this John and was wondering if you folk would have anything in your records.

HUDSON/Peaty Staffordshire

I have been researching the Peaty family, Staffordshire based and wondered whether you have any information on Doris M Hudson who married George Peaty in 1947? I believe that George is still alive but Doris died about 1999 - she was born around 1938.
Afternote:
This is a tree linked to the Commonwealth games medal winning swimmer - Adam Peaty - Doris was his Grandmother - his great grandmother Rose Taylor, married to John Henry Hudson.

June Barnes

The dates you have must be wrong as she was too young to have married in 1947 if born in 1938.  Following is more likely:

Doris - Born Stafford June Quarter 1929/ Vol 6b Page 13   (Mother Taylor).  Birth date was 26 March 1929.
Married  - George J Peaty  Cheadle December Quarter 1947/Vol  9b Page 464  (At the same time Percy Hudson married Margaret MT Marshall - possibly her older Brother born 1920?)

Doris May Peaty - Died Age 61 at Birmingham, Warwickshire September Quarter 1990/ Vol 23 Page 1309

MARDELL/Fletcher

Researching my family tree, I came across Hannah Lea Mardell (1760) married to William Fletcher and John Fletcher (1808) married to Mary Mardell. Both William and John are from Knebworth. Wondered if they are conected to the same Mardells?

Lindcey Fletcher

I believe you have confused Names and Relationships.

Hannah Lea (Not Mardell) Married William Fletcher 27 Sep 1780 in Kings Norton.

They had a Son John Fletcher (b1781) who Married Mary Mardell (b1786) on 9 Nov 1805 in Datchworth.
Together they had about 11 Children, one of whom was John Fletcher born 1808. He was Baptised 1 Mar 1808 in Datchworth. He died 1886.
Possibly he was Married three times - 1851 Census shows Wife Sarah (born Bramfield)/1861 Census shows Wife Martha (born Kings Walden), both Census with Son Sidney.

Possible Wives:
(1) Elizabeth Wackett (1811-1832) Married 1831 Hertford.
(2) Sarah Hills (1809-1858)  Married 1836 Bengeo,Hertford.
(3) Martha Trussel (1809-1884) Married 1859 Hertford. She was previously Married to Joseph Woodward.

Son Sidney born 1846 Hertford Died 1914.

John Fletcher (born 1808) was therefore the Grandson of Hannah and William.
